RHSRC Team Mechatite makes it to the 2012 Tagisang Robotics Game Kick-offs
The Rizal High School Robotics Club: Team Mechatite joins the 2012 Tagisang Robotics Game Kick-offs held at PHIVOLCS Auditorium UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City last September 8, 2012.
Before the program, there was a registration of the competitors which summed up to 31 schools. Seven newbies were recorded. The list of the schools are:

2. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino High School
3. Caloocan City Science High School
4. Caloocan High School
5. Caruhatan High School
6. Dr. Yanga Colleges Inc. - High School
7. Grace Christian School - High School
8. Hope Christian High School
9. La Salle Greenhills - High School
10. Las Piñas East National
11. Makati Science High School
12. Malabon High School
13. Malayan High School of Science
14. Manila Science High School
15. Marikina Science High School
16. Muntinlupa Science High School
17. Parañaque Science High School
18. PAREF- Southridge School
19. Pasay City Science High School
20. Pasig City Science High School
21. Philadelphia High School
22. Philippine Science High School - Main Campus
23. Ramon Magsaysay High School - Cubao

The entire program was hosted by Jack Melo, the same host in the last year's Tagisang Robotics. The program started with a doxology and the National Anthem led by the selected students of Rizal National Science High School. The program was opened by Dr. Filma G. Brawner, Director of DOST-SEI. An inspirational message was read by Dr. Brawner in place of Prof. Fortunato Dela Peña, the Undersecretary for S&T Services. They played a video about the past Tagisang Robotics match. The 31 schools did a cheer about their school and team after the AVP. The emcee then introduced the board of judges in the said competition. Engr. Edwin Sybingco from DLSU then explained the game mechanics and about the kit of parts (KOP). Engr. Carlos M. Oppus then discussed the finale competition guidelines. After the rules and regulations, they played another AVP about the Tagisang Robotics last year. The committee then gave the KOP's to the competing schools.
Elimination rounds would be on November 27-29, 2012. That means we only have less than three months to work on the robot.
So yeah guys, good luck! May the odds be ever in our favor!

GO TEAM MECHATITE!

That awkward moment when...
- your breakfast tastes like carbon paper
- the same meal would be expiring the day after you ate it
- the program corrupts just before leaving
- you waste two hours literally not waiting, but chasing for a taxi to stop
- you are panicking that you would be super duper late
- inside the taxi, signs are showing (you know the SIGNS)
- you literally walk around the mall just to find a gate that could let us enter
- you are welcomed with a grand entourage, and I mean letting us ride the staff elevator on the way to the competition area
- you lose a robot piece
- you arrive just before the program starts
- you spend an overnight practicing for the proper tactics, but then forget just because you played "chase the choosy taxis", so you spend two hours building your robot
- eff the other teams, finish building after 15 minutes
- YOU ARE VERY CONFUSED. ADMIT IT.
- erhmm no proper sitting area for coaches, so no choice but to stand for almost nine hours
- the line for testing the robots in the playing field beats the line when getting NFA Rice
- you are so close but yet so far away
- ... and you are like erhmehgehrd ugh konti na lang eh
- stalking your crush
-the ironic line: "Ma, natalo ako kaya bilhan mo ako ng shirt"
- SNACKS ON THE WAY HOME!
- you enjoyed yet feel tired after the day

RHSRC competes in the 11th PRO Eliminations
RHSRC representatives Macatangay, Macapinlac and Valderrama joined the 11th Philippine Robotics Olympiad held at SM North Edsa on September 5, 2012.
The said competition is divided into two categories: elementary and high school category. More than 40 teams joined the elementary category and 70 teams joined the high school category. Each team has three persons in it, and came from all sides of the country.
The contest proper was started with a two hour and thirty minute timer. Each team must finish building and programming the robot within the given time. After the time, robots were quarantined if they fit the given dimension. When the robot is too big for the block, the robots are returned and the teams are given three minutes to modify the robot. When the time is up, the robots are tested to run in the playing field filled with obstacles. After all robots finished, they are given another thirty minutes to correct whatever is done wrong. After time is consumed, the robots are once again set to run in the field. The round with the best score is the final score.
There were 35 teams in elementary and 41 teams in high school who were qualified to join the finals. The qualified teams will compete on September 7, 2012. Unfortunately, RHSRC lacked 10 points from the cut-off score.
It was an unforgettable experience, and they did their best to do the task right. Maybe it was not really meant to be. But one thing is for sure, this was one fun-filled yet tiring day.
Congratulations you guys! You still are the winners from the bottom of our hearts...
